President calls for provincial economic development

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has implored other provinces of the country to emulate from Bulawayo's vision of developing its provincial economy and taking lead in development.

Addressing delegates during the official commissioning of a $2 billion Hopeville Project and a $2 million tomato processing plant in Bulawayo this afternoon, President Mnangagwa expressed confidence that the two projects would definitely create more jobs and had immediate benefits towards the downstream industry before pledging Government's support.

President Mnangagwa also challenged church organisations to promote tangible economic activity. He however called for effective waste management strategies as government is concerned by the recent cholera and typhoid cases that are fast spreading countrywide.

He said it was the duty of municipalities to ensure proper sanitation as the health and welfare of citizens remain government's top priority.
