Harare City Health Services has declared that there is no typhoid in Harare, allaying fears of a fresh outbreak of the disease in areas such as Mbare, Epworth and Hopley.

Speaking to Capitalk FM News this afternoon, Acting Harare City Health Services director Dr Clemence Duri said there was only one confirmed case of typhoid from a resident in Glenview on Saturday – and the patient is currently undergoing treatment.

Dr Duri said apart from that case, there were no other cases of typhoid recorded in the city and advised residents to desist from raising unnecessary alarm of unconfirmed disease outbreaks.

Members of the public have been advised to take all cases of suspected typhoid for proper diagnosis.
