Launch of wheat compact

Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement deputy Minister Vangelis Haritatos says the launch of the wheat compact under the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) project will compliment government efforts of achieving wheat self-sufficiency by 2025. Officially launching the TAAT project in Harare today Minister Haritatos said over $83 million dollars in foreign currency is required to import wheat annually.

Coordinator of the wheat compact project Dr Solomon Assefa said Zimbabwe have the capacity of becoming a wheat exporter through the adoption of improved technologies which enhances wheat production.
