The 18th edition of the Harare International Festival of Arts (HIFA) 2018 kicks off in the capital today, with over 100 artists billed to perform at the official opening of the festival tonight.
The six day festival is expected to feature performing artists from different genres such as dance, music, art and theatre.
Addressing journalists during a media briefing in the capital yesterday, HIFA executive director Maria Wilson said the festival was ready to light up Harare for the next six days, with a lot of fun activities lined up for each day.
The opening show will feature the likes of jazz-singer Prudence Katomeni, Dereck Mpofu, American vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles, American pianist Jarrett Cherner, Italian guitarist Andrea Valeri, Israeli vocalist Judah Gavra, queen of mbira Hope Masike, and Zimspiration choir among others.
The festival will be running under the theme: ‘We Count’ and ends on Sunday the 6th of May.
