The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) has implored government to start exploring other command initiatives so as to boost production in other sectors, especially after the successful implementation of the command agriculture programme.
Presenting on the topic: Command Agriculture: exploring other command initiatives at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Business Review Conference 2017 held in the capital recently, Zimbabwe Agricultural Society chief executive officer Dr Anxious Masuka said the command mode had proven to be successful, as it resuscitated a deteriorating situation.
Some of the sectors mentioned by Dr Masuka that he said could make use of a command approach were artisanal mining, horticulture, th small to medium enterprise sector and the information communication technology sector.
Dr Masuka added that the country needed to make use of the national content policy to eventually move out of the command mode and redirect the economy towards recovery, in the long term.
President of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Dr Devine Ndlukula said the Business Review Conference sought to evaluate how the country had progressed interms of economic growth and identify areas of improvement for 2018.
The conference was running under the theme “Consolidating the New Normal Economy through Policy Reforms.”
