The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has issued a stern warning to people going about demanding voter registration slips and serial numbers from members of the public saying the move is not only an offense, but bordered on voter intimidation.
In a press statement, the commission said it has received several complaints of people who are collecting voter registration slips from registered voters nationwide.
Following these reports, ZEC has notified all Zimbabweans that voter registration slips remain property of the commission and it is a criminal offense for anyone to demand them.
The commission says the offense bordered on voter intimidation and impersonation of ZEC officials in violation of the Electoral Act and Section 156 (c) of the constitution.
Citizens have been urged to report such cases if they take place for the offenders to be apprehended.
