Estimated 10 percent of Zimbabwe’s plant species have medicinal purposes

The Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe (MRCZ) says out of the 5 000 known plant species in Zimbabwe, it is estimated that 10% contain medical purposes.

The remarks were made by the chairperson of the Complimentary and Traditional Medicines Committee, Professor Charles Nhachi during the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe annual health research ethics forum held recently in Harare.
